Collaborative Principles Guidelines for Negotiation Questions and Answers

11. What if final settlement is not reached using the Collaborative Family Law process?

There is no guarantee that the Collaborative Family Law process will resolve every issue, although with a commitment to the process, most Collaborative Family Law negotiations should be successful. If one or both of the parties decides that they do not want to continue with Collaborative Family Law, then both lawyers must resign from the case and no other members of the lawyer's law firm can represent the client. The lawyers will assist in transferring the file to the new lawyer but will have no further involvement in the case.
